KESTRELS are an indie-pop/shoegaze trio from Halifax, Nova Scotia consisting of Chad Peck (vocals, guitar), Devin Peck (bass), and Paul Brown (drums). Simply put, Kestrels are a blend of addictive indie hooks, and satisfying shoegaze soundscapes. After previously releasing two 7" EP's, and a full length LP (Primary Colours), Kestrels are priming themselves for two new releases. The first, a free single that will be available for download online at kestrels.bandcamp.com in December 2011. This single "There All The Time Without You" is from their upcoming spring LP. The second, will be a be a new full length album printed on deluxe 12" vinyl titled "A Ghost History". The album will feature 11 songs that speak to the band's influences of indie rock and shoegaze. There is even a guest guitar solo performed by Tim Wheeler of the infamous Brit-Pop band Ash. In "A Ghost History" Kestrels deliver a sonic blend of guitar tones and soundscapes that will leave you wanting more. Mark your calendar for Spring 2012; because "A Ghost History" is an album that you will want to listen to time and again. All in all, Kestrels have not created a wall of sound, but rather a wall of noise. Drums crash, bass swells and guitars howl while notes bend in cacophony. Through it all, melodies shine & you are left with the distinct impression that noise and melody can coexist after all.
